I thought you were in John’s Pass. Did you move? Yes! January 1, 2023 we began departing from our new store, The BoatDega adjacent to the Waffle House on Treasure Island. We have extended all of our trips to 2 1/2ish hours so all of our Guests can take in all of the sights the Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf of Mexico have to offer.

What if I’m running late? Stuff happens. We get it. The boat departs at the listed time due to the draw bridge schedules. A late departure means a 30 minute wait for the next opening. Call us as soon as you know if you are running late. Please allow enough time for traffic, alligators, draw bridges, and Florida Man.

Do you always sail in the Gulf of Mexico? Our daily mission is to expose our guests to the open water of the Gulf. From time to time, however, prevailing conditions will prevent this from happening and we will sail in the calmer waters of Boca Ciega Bay. The safety and comfort of all of our passengers is our highest priority. Our Captain’s are some of the most experienced sailing professionals in all of Florida and strive to give you the best experience possible.

Do you in sail rainy / bad weather or high winds? No. We want you to have a great experience. Being wet, rained on, and seasick isn’t fun for anyone. We will cancel trips and gladly refund if it’s looking like it’s going to be a rainy or stormy day. We will also cancel trips if the temperature is under 58 degrees. Your Captain and shoreside personnel are constantly monitoring conditions.

Can we bring snacks? Totally! Snacks are available for purchase at or store, The BoatDega, or you are more than welcome to bring your own.

Can we bring alcoholic beverages? Absolutely! There is nothing quite like enjoying the sailing experience with your favorite spirit in hand. The BoatDega has a fine selection of beer and wine you are welcome to take aboard. We have coolers with ice available and a corkscrew at the ready.

Is there a restroom aboard? Yes! Our vessels are equipped with a marine “head” for our guests.

Do you accept gratuities/tips? Yes. Tipping is never expected but always appreciated. If you enjoyed your experience, you can add a gratuity to the credit card you used for your reservation. We also use CashApp $SailSuncoast, Venmo @SailSuncoast, and we gladly accept cash.

Why do you recommend ages 12 and older on your Sunset Sail? Our Sunset Sail is more of an adult outing. Sometimes there is adult conversation or folks looking for an intimate connection with their significant other or to the wind, water, and the world around us. We can recommend several excursions that are great for the kiddos.

Is there parking available? Free Parking is available at our dock in any of the white lined spaces. Help yourself to any of the reserved spaces.

We flew in and do not have a way to your dock. What can we do? Easy Peazy! Call our friends at FREE BEACH RIDE at 727-776-7553 and they will be happy to come scoop you up and deliver you and your party right to our dock. Allow plenty of time, when they say, “We are 10 minutes away,” allow for 20.

Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, St Pete Beach, and Pass-a-Grille

Are Dogs Allowed? Certified service animals with documentation are permitted only if you are able to provide a personal flotation device (lifejacket) for the animal. One of the fun and exciting parts of sailing is heeling (the boat leaning to one side or another). Animals have a very difficult time processing what they are feeling and often become agitated, scared, and seasick. We strongly discourage even the best trained service animals from joining our trips. Sorry Fido.

Are we going to get wet? Maybe. Because it is the real world, not Sea World, there is always a chance of catching the occasional sea spray or liquid sunshine from above.

Is sailing dangerous? Statistically, your drive to and from our dock is more dangerous than your experience aboard. SUNCOAST HORIZON is a US Coast Guard Inspected Passenger Vessel and is captained by some of the most experienced captains in Florida. All captains and crew members are enrolled in a random drug testing program and receive training for emergency situations aboard. The safety of our guests are our highest priority. Should you have a concern, please feel free to discuss them with your captain.
